Wind Studies
We generally recommend a wind study be performed even when there is existing data available. The objective in this case is to obtain a high degree of correlation between existing (airport, AWOS, etc.) data and actual site data. This correlation allows for more accurate projections. Wind studies are valuable even in very windy areas by allowing for optimal turbine placement on even the windiest sites. We have provided a number of wind resource in our Links section of the site.
Here is an annual average wind power map published by the National Renewable
Energy Laboratory.
